Online Public Access CatalogueWebOPAC

The ICHR Library is the knowledge hub of ICHR and is designed to support the research objectives of the various units of the organisation and also to act as a national facility to support scholars and researchers from India and abroad. . It is a unique library having collections mainly in the fields of, Ancient History, Medieval History, Modern History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Philosophy and Religion. Our mission is to acquire, organize and update the library collection to support the teaching-learning and research activities.

Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)

The library is fully automated, providing easy access to its resources through Web Online Public Access Catalogue (Web OPAC) terminals, and has been organized scientifically as per internationally accepted standards. ICHR’s Online Public Access Catalog contains over 75000 bibliographic records with more records being added on a daily basis. The collection strength includes encyclopaedias, gazetteers, reports, theses etc. The Catalog contains information related to books, journals, theses, microfilms/microfiches, proceedings and  bibliographic information regarding 40,000 articles available in our collection can be accessed  through article indexing module of OPAC.


The OPAC search allows searching by any combination of author, title, subject/keyword, date or format. Scholars may contact ICHR library staff or the library reference desk at 011-23384829 or via e-mail dd[dot]lib[at]ichr[dot]ac[dot]in to availability
 




Working Hours


The  library shall remain open to its members from 9.30am to 5.30 p.m., six days a week (Monday to Saturday), except on gazetted holidays. On Saturday the library timings are 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Services

The visiting scholar should bring original and valid photo ID - Passport (Foreign Scholars), and University issued ID (Indian Scholars) for easy access of services.


Photocopying(black & white as well as colour) facility shall be available on payment basis (to be notified from time to time) as per the provisions of the Copyright Act with special permission of the Librarian/Incharge.


Scholars shall have the facility to get print copies of microfilm/microfiche after obtaining permission from the Deputy Director(Documentation) on payment basis (to be notified from time to time) under provisions of the Copyright Act/ restrictions placed in it.


Microfilm/Microfiche readers have been provided for use of the scholars.
Material from other libraries may be obtained on Inter-Library Loan basis, if possible.


Scholars shall also be allowed to use computer terminals for accessing library information and other databases. They can also bring their own laptops for use in the library.

Care of material

Scholars should not mutilate/damage the material provided to them for consultation. They also should not mark the material or fold it at any place. At any time, if it is found that the material has been mutilated/damaged by a scholar, his/her  shall be debarred to use library and he/she shall be held responsible for compensating the losses.

Personal belongings

Except for writing material and a laptop, nothing shall be allowed to be taken into the library. Such non-permissible items have to be deposited/kept at the Property Counter.
